Evaluasi kesesuaian lahan untuk budidaya tebu berdasarkan sistem zonasi agroekologi di Jawa Timur, Indonesia

Sistem zonasi agroekologi sangat penting untuk mempercepat produksi tanaman perkebunan seperti tebu. Sistem ini merupakan alat yang membantu mengidentifikasi area yang paling sesuai untuk menanam tanaman tertentu berdasarkan karakteristik fisik dan biologis lahan. Kondisi ideal untuk pertumbuhan tebu dapat dicapai dari kondisi lahan tanam yang optimal dan iklim serta pemupukan yang memadai. Perencanaan penggunaan lahan merupakan kunci keberlanjutan tanaman perkebunan di Indonesia. Dalam penelitian ini, kami menggunakan evaluasi kesesuaian lahan untuk budidaya tebu menggunakan sistem zonasi agroekologi. Kriteria kesesuaian multisumber digunakan dari peta tematik yang meliputi peta penggunaan lahan/penutup lahan, peta lereng, peta curah hujan, dan peta jenis tanah sebagai karakteristik fisik dan biologis lahan. Pada peta kesesuaian lahan untuk budidaya tebu, hasilnya berupa luas lahan yang disesuaikan dengan indikator Food and Agriculture Organization mengenai kelas kesesuaian lahan. Kami menemukan bahwa 23,20% dari wilayah tersebut (11.149,49 km2) sangat sesuai untuk budidaya tebu, 30,18% (14.499,67 km2) cukup sesuai, 36,05% (17.321,71 km2) cukup sesuai, dan 10,55% (5.068,25 km2) tidak sesuai untuk perkebunan tebu. Dalam penelitian ini, ditemukan bahwa sekitar 1.114.949 ha lahan di Jawa Timur berpotensi menjadi perkebunan tebu berdasarkan sistem zonasi agroekologi. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan bahwa pendekatan terintegrasi Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) dengan pemanfaatan dataset vegetasi penginderaan jauh satelit dapat membantu mengembangkan manajemen perkebunan tebu spesifik lokasi.
