The method used was participatory training with a <em>learning by doing</em> approach conducted over two days. Participants consisted of 25 teachers from three SLB schools in Baubau City. Training results showed a significant improvement in participants' abilities, with an average pretest score of 42.6 increasing to 78.9 in the posttest. A total of 88% of participants successfully produced animated video and picture book products suitable for use as learning media. Initially, the partner group had limited knowledge of vegetable cultivation using the verticulture system in home garden areas. However, through the community service program that mentored vegetable cultivation in Type III home gardens using verticulture techniques, participants’ skills and enthusiasm increased in using home gardens to support household food needs. The methods employed in this program included education, training, extension activities, and continuous mentoring to address the challenges faced by the community. These activities enhanced the participants’ knowledge and practical skills in verticulture-based vegetable cultivation, enabling them to improve household food self-sufficiency. The program was implemented in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The main output of this activity was the introduction and application of an appropriate technology: a verticulture-based vegetable cultivation system.</p> sopiana sopiana, Venti Jatsiyah, Rosmalinda Rosmalinda, Sarwendah Ratnawati Hermanto, Beny Setiawan Copyright (c) 2026 Sopiana, Venti Jatsiyah, Nurhayati, Rosmalinda, Sarwendah Ratnawati Hermanto, Beny Setiawan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ https://journal.icts.or.id/index.php/borneo/article/view/48 Wed, 29 Jul 2026 00:00:00 +0000 Penguatan Literasi Bahasa Wolio Melalui Pengenalan Buku Cerita Bergambar Berbasis Budaya Lokal https://journal.icts.or.id/index.php/borneo/article/view/52 <p>This community service program aimed to strengthen Wolio language literacy among elementary school students and teachers through the introduction of illustrated storybooks based on local cultural values. This condition requires the availability of human resources equipped with adequate safety awareness and risk management competencies. The Recreation Business Management Study Program at Politeknik Negeri Pontianak is responsible for preparing graduates who are capable of managing recreation and adventure tourism activities in a safe and professional manner. This Community Service Program aimed to enhance students’ understanding and practical experience regarding safety procedures and risk management in rock climbing activities. The program was conducted in June 2026 at the rock climbing facility of Politeknik Negeri Pontianak and involved students from the Recreation Business Management Study Program as participants. The implementation employed an experiential learning approach consisting of theoretical sessions, safety equipment demonstrations, climbing practices, belaying simulations, and reflective discussions. Program evaluation was carried out through participatory observation, group discussions, and activity documentation.
